Growing Children. Nourishing Communities. Caring for Mother Earth.

Future Sprouts is a nonprofit organization created to give children and families meaningful, hands-on opportunities to grow, cook, learn, connect, and care for the world around them.

We believe education doesn't happen only inside a classroom.

Sometimes the most powerful classroom is a garden.

Sometimes the lesson begins with a seed.

Sometimes it happens while a child prepares a meal from scratch.

Sometimes it happens beneath a tree, with hands in the soil and curiosity leading the way.

Future Sprouts brings together gardening, cooking, nutrition, mindfulness, environmental stewardship, and community to create experiences that help children develop skills for life.

Our Mission

Why we exist

Our mission is to empower children, families, schools, and communities through hands-on gardening, cooking from scratch, nutrition education, mindfulness, and environmental stewardship.

We create opportunities for children to understand where their food comes from, develop healthy lifelong habits, build practical skills and confidence, connect with nature, and discover the importance of caring for themselves, one another, and Mother Earth.

Our Vision

What we are growing toward

We envision communities where every child has the opportunity to plant a seed, grow food, prepare a meal from scratch, connect with nature, and understand that their choices can make a difference.

We envision gardens becoming outdoor classrooms, kitchens becoming places of discovery, families learning together, communities sharing resources and knowledge, and children growing into compassionate and responsible caretakers of our planet.

We dream of a future where healthy food, nature, practical life skills, and meaningful learning experiences are accessible to every child — regardless of their circumstances.

What We Believe

Six commitments

Children learn by doing

Children remember what they experience.

Planting, harvesting, cooking, tasting, observing, creating, and caring for something living transform learning into something meaningful.

Food connects us

Food connects us to the soil, our health, our families, our cultures, and one another.

Teaching a child how to grow food and prepare a meal from scratch is more than teaching cooking. It is teaching a skill for life.

Mother Earth is home

Nature is not simply somewhere we visit. Mother Earth is home.

We want children to develop a relationship with the natural world — to understand the soil beneath their feet, appreciate water, protect pollinators and wildlife, plant trees, reduce waste, and recognize that every living thing is connected.

Every child deserves to grow

Just like a seed, every child carries extraordinary potential.

Children need encouragement, patience, nourishment, opportunities, and people who believe in them. We create environments where children are invited to explore, make mistakes, ask questions, discover their abilities, and grow.

The whole child

Healthy living is more than what we eat.

It is also how we move, breathe, think, connect, rest, communicate, and care for ourselves and others. Mindfulness and connection with nature are woven into our programs to support the whole child.

Community makes the difference

We believe meaningful change happens when people come together.

Schools, families, educators, farmers, chefs, gardeners, volunteers, businesses, nonprofits, and community organizations all have something valuable to contribute. Future Sprouts creates opportunities for those gifts to come together for our children and our future.

Why Future Sprouts?

What one seed begins

Looking up into the canopy of a mature fruit tree with sunlight breaking through the leaves
A child who plants a tree learns to think beyond today
  • Because a child who plants a seed begins to understand patience.
  • A child who cares for a garden learns responsibility.
  • A child who harvests a vegetable discovers where food comes from.
  • A child who prepares a meal from scratch develops independence and confidence.
  • A child who plants a tree learns to think beyond today.
  • A child who connects with nature begins to understand that we are not separate from the Earth — we are part of it.

And when children learn to care for themselves, one another, and Mother Earth, those lessons can travel far beyond a garden.

They can travel into families. Into schools. Into communities. And eventually, into the future.

We are planting more than seeds. We are growing possibilities.
